Disciplines

Davyhulme WWTWThe structure of our Engineering Department is streamed by discipline teams (Process, mechanical, electrical, ICA and drawing office) with each team consisting of a Chief Engineer, Senior Engineers, Engineers and Graduate Engineers all reporting to the Engineering Director.

The Chief Engineers are ‘best in class' and assure that the appropriate technical skills are applied to provide a consistent quality of service.

All of our engineering teams provide support to each other and specifically are mentors to junior engineers.  Our graduate engineering programmes are affiliated with the relevant institutions so as our graduates will attain Chartered Engineer status following a successful programme of works.

We hold regular workshops with our supply chain and internal representatives to inform our engineers of technical advancement so as to reinforce their skills.

Our engineering skills are evaluated every 18 months against a process exposure and skills matrix to ensure that we can place the best person to develop the engineering solution.

This skills matrix covers all activities undertaken during the design process and enables the engineers to identify their strengths and weaknesses and provides a platform for further training and progression within the Engineering department.

Process Design

Power Distribtuion Substation 2We have made a deliberate policy not to have an affiliation with any one technology but to have a knowledge base covering many aspects of water and wastewater processes.  This gives us the freedom and opportunity to offer the process solution most appropriate to resolving the problem.

Our Process engineers have the skill and technical ability to understand and challenge bespoke processes.  They are committed to protecting the environment and providing solutions that offer economies of scale/scope.

Our process solutions are reviewed and measured and innovation is applied as appropriate.

We have extensive expertise in the field of odour measurement and control.

Electrical Engineering

We are able to offer a highly professional capability covering all aspects of electrical engineering and design from Low Voltage to High Voltage installations.

We can demonstrate this through our successes on numerous water and waste water schemes and more recently challenged on the multi-million pound electrical engineering contract for the channel tunnel rail link and wind farm schemes.

We utilise software systems for cable design and fault studies and can offer expertise and experience in pursuance of statutory compliance.

Mechanical Engineering

We have the skills to undertake all mechanical engineering works associated with the water treatment market.  Our engineers are accountable for the design and utilise tools and procedures to ensure compliance with CDM, Hazop, operability, maintainability and risk assessment.

The engineers will enrol all parties into the design in order that we can operate a no surprises culture.

Instrumentation and Controls Engineering

We can provide technical solutions to the many challenges found in this developing market place,  will design new or provide intelligent solutions to upgrade existing works.

Our team are continuously working with our supply chain to maintain a technical understanding of advancing product design.

Computer aided 2D and 3D Design

Within our design office we have developed AutoCAD 2D and 3D platforms to suit the materials and equipment found in the respective market places.

We can offer CAD services from outline sketch details to animated 3D construction sequences.

Our designers have the requisite skills to support all the engineering drafting activities from P&ID preparation to As Built details.
